I cannot believe IBM released this as GOLD!

I cannot believe that IBM have released 8.5 Server as GOLD. If you are installing on a 64bit OS (using either the 64bit version of the server, or the 32 bit), you cannot install a clean installation using default settings as the (x86) bit in the file path screws everything up.

Domino 8.5 will not run as a service under Vista 64bit ultimate, sure its not a supported OS but seriously.

The client seems as buggy as all hell. It keeps coming up with activity monitor not started, which there seems to be no solution for.

I guess I’ll wait and see what 8.5.1 is like.

Subject: You can use a default path for clean 64-bit installation.

which is C:\Program Files\IBM\Lotus\Domino.If you cannot or have any problems with 64-bit install to the default path - please attach your DominoInstall.log.

For 32 bit there is indeed the install default path problem (see technote #1252935 : it has a workaround.).

This is a third party (ISMP) bug.

Subject: 64bit clean path is the same as 32 bit

I cannot use the 64bit clean path as even that has (x86) in it.

My whole point about this is there should not need to be a “work around”. This is a GOLD release and it appears to have some very major, simple bugs in it.

The quality of this release is astounding.

Subject: Default path for 64 bit release should be “Program Files” without (x86)

Are you using Domino 64 bit release?Default path for %ProgramFiles% for windows 32 bit application only has (x86) in it.

Could you, please, post the output of “set %PROGRAMFILES%”?

(Bug with (x86) is third party bug - ISMP installer in this case.

We can work with you on all bugs that are Domino’s own one by one, but we need your help.

Thank you,

Irina Khasin.

Subject: Re: Possible Activity Monitor resolution

Not sure if you have seen this:

Subject: Did Dan’s pointer help with the activity monitor issue?

Subject: Not for us at least…

We don’t use Sametime and I had to uninstall the 8.5 client, delete the notes.ini and reinstall 8.5 client to get rid of this annoying behaviour.
