HTTP Web Server: Invalid URL Exception

I have just begun moving mail users from our old Domino 5 server to our new Domino 6.01 server. The platform is W2K.

Now when people try to open their mail via the web they are allowed to authenticate and the database appears to open but they get the error message:

The Notes log contains the following information:

HTTP Web Server: Invalid URL Exception [/mail/pbolger.nsf/($Inbox)?OpenView]

We are still using the StdR50Mail template.

I see that some of you have encountered this problem before but there is no solution posted.

Subject: HTTP Web Server: Invalid URL Exception

OK, Its all very odd, but I have a solution. Unfortunately I don’t know WHY it works!

The only thing visible in the mail box are the Navigation pane and one Action button - Tools. The only option available here is Help.

I tried opening Help and it asked me to authenticate. Once into Help I then used the Browser’s Back button and hey presto! all is now well!!

If anyone knows what has been going on I’d love to know!
