Hi Peeps,
I’m hoping someone can help me out with this error.
I have a Domino 8.5.1 FP3 server running on W2K3 Server Std. I am testing the iwaredirect with a few mail files, and whenever I login as the user I get the following message:
“Error 404 HTTP Web Server: Couldn’t find design note - mailfile.nsf” (where mailfile is the NSF of the user I am logging in as.)
A quick check of the server log confirms this -
20/07/2010 14:49:40 HTTP Web Server: Couldn’t find design note - mailfile.nsf [/redir.nsf/mailfile.nsf?OpenDatabase]
Is the issue with redir.nsf, or are there missing design elements within the mail file that I am missing?
I have tried refreshing/replacing the design of the redir.nsf and the mailfile.nsf to no avail.
Any help, or insight, would be greatly appreciated.
Subject: Does this only happen when using the redirect db?..
…also, are you logging HTTP requests on the server? I’ve found that the web server logs can occasionally shed a bit more light on what’s actually failing.
Subject: Yes!
Hi Matt,
Yeah. When I take the iwaredirect database out of the equation it seems to work just fine. I might be trying to over complicate things with redirection URLs too, but for the time being everything is working as it should be.
And yes, the R8.5 Domlog is very helpful for diagnosing HTTP “stuff”.
Thanks for the all of the input, it’s been greatly appreciated.
Subject: On reflection…
…this bit looks weird: /redir.nsf/mailfile.nsf?OpenDatabase - it would suggest that the redirect db is having difficulty building the URL. Have you tried switching on debug mode in iwaredir.nsf?
Subject: Fixed it.
It looks like it was the iwaredir.nsf that was the problem. I deleted it and tested that I could access the mail file directly in the web browser, and that worked OK.
I then re-created the iwaredir.nsf DB and bingo, worked first time.
Thanks again for all of the help with this chaps. T’was greatly appreciated.
Subject: Live Headers
Try using the Live Headers extension in FF - very useful to determine what the actual problem may be.https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3829/?src=api
I’ve seen something similar before but can’t remember the fix. When I do, I’ll post!
Subject: Nothing obvious in the HTTP headers
Hi Alan,
Thanks for the suggestion. I’ve installed the FF Add-on, and connected to the site again. I can’t see anything immediately obvious, but I’ll dig a bit deeper to see what’s what.
If you can remember anything please do post it here, or mail me.
Thanks again.
