Q1. Anyone have any parameters or suggestions for debugging / tuning Web Agents (i.e. those run / controlled by http). We have the R6 parameter allowing concurrent agents set to yes, and no time limit specified for the moment.
The http process peaks to 25% cpu and stays there for the duration of the agent run (quad processor box) while the task gobbles up memory which it never seems to release.
Are there any http_ debug style parameters which will give me more information?
Q2. How much of an overhead does an header response rule to add a Server tag (for security purposes) really add?
You will find some useful information on debugging and tuning agents in the Agent FAQ under resources. There are some suggestions and a very nice white paper on the topic. There also have been a number of articles for tuning general performance in LDD archive (search for performance).
In Release 7 there will be tools that allow you to keep track of resources (CPU and memory) on per agent basis. If you have not been to LotusShere 2004 you might find it interesting to download my presentation “Who is misbehaving?” which talks about Agent monitoring in release 7.
I had looked at several of your documents but did not find any information relating to http agents other than limited points… I cannot change the code of the agents to provide more debug information so I was hoping for some information relating to any available debug parameters, and perhaps some explanation of the selection to run web agents concurrently…

…and as far as 7 goes, yay! but no use to me - production service just now, not likely to move to R7 for some time.
FAQ #17 in the Agent FAQ had two links - one to the white paper and one to the tool which helps locate bottlenecks. I just tried the link to the white paper did not work… I’ll have to write to the webmaster to find a more current link and will update the FAQ.
As far as R7, I just a link to the article published in the German Computer World about it… So for those of you who can read German you can read the article, and for those who don’t you can see a screen shot on the second page.
…I’ve read the whitepaper before but a refresher will be beneficial. Unfortunately I think it’s coming down to poor application design but I’d like to ensure that I have tweaked every possible server setting first.
