I have set the form property to generate HTML for all fields but HTML is not being generated for a field on my form.
e.g. Two fields are TaskOutline and which is hidden in read mode and OutlineHistory which is hidden in edit mode. The purpose of these is when a document is saved any text entered in the TaskOutline field is added to the OutlineHistory field and the TaskOutline field is set to blank ready for the next entry.
Initially I tried to do this in javascript but kept receiving a javascript error. After viewing the source it was because when an existing document was put in edit mode there is no HTML for the OutlineHistory field.
However if a new document is created the souce shows this for the field
I have managed to do this by adding some code to an agent called in the WebQuerySave event but would like to know the reason that this is happening. I have several other hidden fields on the form and HTML is being generated both when a new document is created and when an existing document is put into edit mode.
Subject: HTML is not generated for a field on the web
Things which are hidden by their hiding properties are never generated in the HTML. So, when you go into Edit mode, a field that is hidden in Edit mode will not be in the HTML.
‘Type=“Hidden”’ is never generated (AFAIK), it is added to a field’s HTML when it is specified as an HTML-attribute property of a field.
So, what’s the point of the “Generate HTML” property? It is for Computed and Computed-For-Display fields. Without it, Domino only generates text for these.

Thanks for the reply.
I have other hidden fields on the form that are editable and HTML is being generated for them.
e.g. I have a Status field that is hidden from Web/Notes/Mobile and does not have any HTML attributes declared for it. The HTML that is generated for it is
I have just tested this field so that it has the exact same hide when properties as the field that HTML is not being generated for and the above line still appears in the source code.

No its an editable field. The text in the field displays in read mode. This is the HTML generated in read mode.
