How to unencrypt a field

We have a Notes database with some encrypted fields. We would like to remove encryption from these fields, but it seems it is not as simple as opening the form in Designer, selecting the field and unchecking “Enable Encryption for this field”. Is this even possible, and if so, how can I do it?

It’s the data that are encrypted. So after you change the form, edit and re-save the documents you created with that form.
