I have tried to use R6.5.4 server rules to delete undeliverable mail messages - but the server rules do not pick up ‘not listed in Domino Directory’ or 'DELIVERY FAILURE:'I know the normal way is to hold undelivered mail in the mail.box, but then it needs admin work to regular clear out - is there a way to write an agent to clear these mails in the mail.box or a way to write a rule to catch them?
Any help would be apprieciated.

Two ways:
Set the replication settings to auto-purge docs not modified in 1 day.
Use the mail box cleaner app in the sandbox.

If you wisth to block mail sent to adresses that does not exist goto cofinguration documet for your domino server go to
router/smtp → Restrictions and Controls → smtp inbound controls and enable the field “Verify that local domain recipients exist in the Domino Directory”
Restart the smtp and router.
Done this will reduce the “trash” in your mail.box.
