How To Suppress This Wretched "Process Terminated Abnormally" Message?

I’ve posted earlier about this @&#$*! message that pops up on the Domino server window EVERY MINUTE after I would run a McAfee SDAT to update the signature (Process C:\Assist\sdatXXXX.exe (4412/0x113C) has terminated abnormally)

Well, it seems this message comes up whenever ANY process, ANYWHERE on the server fails or errors, the Lotus Domino server starts spitting out this message EVERY MINUTE that so-and-so process has terminated abnormally.

Is there ANYWAY that I can keep the Domino server from reporting that whatever process has terminated abnormally over and over again?

Hi,

The message is on the Domino console but it could be written by McAfee so the problem is probably there. You cannot deny access to third party tools to your console (log.nsf db).

Thanks. But, it doesn’t matter WHERE or WHAT fails on the server, the Domino server will report it every minute with that “Process has terminated abnormally” message. McAfee, Domino processes, OS processes. ANYTHING that fails or errors on the server, Domino will report it every minute until the server is rebooted.

I don’t care if it’s McAfee or whatever. All I want to know is how to make Domino ignore any processes that fail and to NOT report it every minute.

Had the same problem on a 7.0.2 server with my own program. I solved it by shutting down Domino and then doing an nsd -kill on the command-line. Did it three times actually, as it kept issuing garbage. I then cleared out \lotus\domino\data\IBM_TECHNICAL_SUPPORT* completely before restarting the server. All is quiet. :wink:

Thank for the info. I’m going to try that on a server today.

But does that solution only fix the problem until it happens again? I usually fix it by rebooting the entire server. But it’s only temporary. Sooner or later, some process is going to upset poor little Domino and it’s going to start spitting out that message “Process Terminated Abnormally” again.

What I want to know is there some setting, NOTES.INI entry, command, etc. that I can use to keep Domino from EVER repeating that message over and over again? In other words, is there a way to turn this off for good? Never to return? Ever? Afterlife kid?

I belive it will only clean up once. I’m not aware of a setting that will tell Domino to ignore that ad-nauseum.

Thanks. I tried your clean up process and it worked fine. I’m still looking for a permanent solution. If I find one, I’ll post it here.
