How to sort number 1...n, in a column

Any idea how to show a column with values 1…n in a Asc or Dsc sort order in a first column.

I have document which as doc seq number as 1, 2 like that. every time new document is created, it generates one seq. number.

I want to show that field in a first column, so user can see 1,2,3, like that.
