How to share files through Lotus

Hello,

I have fileshare server and lotus domino server in one LAN network. I’d like to have access to some of my LAN files from the net using for example lotus databases. How? Could I maybe have some replication of files between file-server and lotus database? So I could access lotus database from internet and have there current versions of files from my file-server.

The best way to do this would be to use a document database. That way you could control security on it as well as provide extranet access to it.

Internally, your users can edit-in-place, rather than using a file system.

I know that this may be a bit different to the way you currently work but it significantly reduces security risks while providing enhanced functionality.

Another alternative could be to install a VPN (quite cheap these days) and get people to use remote desktop.

I think document database will not be a good solution. Some people need to have access from thair homes to some QlikView and Excel documents - the problem is that excel document are linked through expressions/formulas with access databases and other excel sheets…

VPN would be a great solution, but our company’s policy forbids us to use it to access our local files.

That is why I’d like to use Lotus to access them - they are in the same LAN network as Lotus Serwer is, so I think there should be some way to connect from lotus database to this files
