I have 2 existing Domino 7 servers which are using Internet Sites rather brilliantly. People are able to access their mailfiles and additional in-house databases without issue.
I’m creating several new 8.5 Domino servers and I’ve finally straightened out the rights between these servers so I can, soon, relocate the mailfiles. However, I cannot seem to get these boxes to function with the existing Internet Sites. Is there something I’m missing?
Your question is pretty vague; Are you replicating the Domino Directory over to these new servers? Did you make new internet site documents referencing the fully qualified hostname used to hit these new servers? Include some detail so we can help you out …
If I knew any of these answers I’d be a millionaire. I should also point out that none in the current IT group were here when the older servers were implemented.
Okay, so I have two existing servers (v01 & v02) and I am building new servers (ext & int). v01 & v02 which are configured with “Load Internet configurations from Server\Internet Sites documents: Enabled”. I have also made this setting the same on ext & int.
However, when I go to Configuration > Web\Internet Sites in the Administrator I only see the following items listed:
Web Site: Default (DEFAULT SITE)
Web SSO Configuration: Ltpa Token
-This one gives me a message “You cannot access portions of this document because it is encrypted and was not intended for you, or you do not have the decryption key.” Once open, it has the v01 & v02 servers listed under “Participating Servers” but I dare not edit this document for fear it will destroy what we have currently.
Under Web Server Configurations (which I thought was something different) v01 & v02 have FILE PROTECTION documents. I did create one for int for testing but that didn’t seem to change anything for me.
I honestly don’t even know what more to share. Are there specific fields I should be looking at?
“You cannot access portions of this document because it is encrypted and was not intended for you, or you do not have the decryption key.” is the message you will get when opening an SSO doc that you did not create. You can safely recreate this document and bounce HTTP. On a broader note, here’s some good reading on how internet site documents work.
After a foul-up with our existing servers I finally understand how Internet Sites and Web Server configurations “work” or don’t play well together at the very least… I finally get it.
