Did compact run successfully? Are there one or two emails containing very large attachments ? (Go to the “All documents” view and sort by size) What is the percentage usage? (In Database Properties select the information (“i”) tab and click on “% used”).

Cheers,

Adrian

It’s two things: view indexes and deletion stubs. To rebuild view indexes by pressing Ctrl+Shift+F9 on the client. To remove the deletion stubs, have him open his mail and go to File > Database > Properties. Click the Replication Settings button, go to the Space Savers tab, and change the “Remove documents not modified in the last XX days” entry to 0 days. DO NOT CHECK THE BOX OR YOU WILL DELETE EVERYTHING IN THE DATABASE!! Click OK and it should lock the client for a bit while it removes the deletion stubs. Compact the database, then go back in and reset the “Remove documents…” back to 90.

I’ve tried this procedure, and I’m not sure it works. Removal of the deletion stubs does not appear to lock the client, so I’m not sure they are being deleted. That part of the procedure certainly doesn’t appear to reduce the size of the database, although rebuilding the indexes does (a bit) and compacting the database does (quite a bit). Everything is archived from the client within 30 days & there are only about 700 documents in it (almost entirely calendar entries as I move all my email to a working archive as soon as it arrives). In spite of this my mailbox is currently 205Mb and regularly bumps up against the 250Mb limit. Any suggestions please ?
