I find it almost odd that what I am about to ask is not covered on LDD. And boy, did I search…
Using Domino web form, I am retrieving a value from DB2 based on what user enters on the web form.
When the ODBC driver retrieves the value from DB2, Domino displays it on the web. This is done by a single line of script - Print res.GetValue(“field”).
The problem here is user friendliness or rather a lack thereof. The retrieved value is displayed in the upper left corner of the screen on white background.
The original input collecting form has left navigation, masthead, styles, etc.
How can I display the retrieved value on the web and still keep the layout of the site? Of course, I know I can hard code HTML into a long series of Print statements to recreate the layout. But is that the only way? I use Shared Resources to hold HTML code for leftnav and masthead.
Thank you for any insight!

Subject: How to redisplay form after WebQuerySave
Assuming that the document has been saved, just set the $$Return to the URL of the document itself.
The URL of any notesdocument is
//server/dbpath/0/unid
So its easy to redirect browser back to the same document. Domino treats /0/ as a dummy view so you dont need to know anything about the db design. You can use $defaultview too, but that breaks if the naughty dev didnt make a default view =)

Simon, thanks. The thing is, I do not want to save the form. It is just a frontend to display results retrieved from a remote database and there is no need to save them. I have SaveOptions field on the form with a value of “0”.
Hm, perhaps Domino is not the best platform one would use for such task…

Then its even easier, just set $$Return to “/” + @WebDbName + “/MyformName?openform”
And Domino is the best platform for every task!

Thanks again. I will give it a try, although I am not sure if $$Return is used if the form is not saved. I will report back.
Oh, and I was not trying to mock Domino in any way.
Update: $$Return takes effect even if the form is not saved (SaveOptions set to “0”).
