How to recover lost keyring file password

Hi

Just a little helper for any other desperate soul who is stuck because they dont have the password for the keyring file when they have to update a SSL certificate

Exit the domino server and edit your notes.ini file and add DEBUG_SSL_ALL=3 and SSL_TRACE_KEYFILEREAD=1

Restart your Domino server and look at the lines displayed in the startup window, you should see entries like:

ReadKeyfile> Recovering password from stash file

ReadKeyfile> Password is <…>

Now you have the password

Exit the server and remove the entries from the notes.ini file as they add a bit of overhead to your server performance

This was on a Domino 6.5.4 web server running on Windows 2000 server

If you use the SET CONF command for these ini settings from the server console, you don’t have to reboot the server. It starts prompting the password immediately.
