How to prevent table tabs from scrolling off page

Domino/Notes Version: 14.5.1
Operating System: Windows 11
Client : Notes

I have a form with a tabbed table. I am trying to prevent the tabs from scrolling off the page when it is scrolled vertically. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I’m not sure there’s anyway to do that in the Notes client. I would play around with putting a table in your table, of one row and setting the column as Row Header. You might be able to get something close, but there isn’t really a way like within a spreadsheet where you can freeze a row header in place. The Notes client will always pretty much scroll to where the cursor edit is.

You can achieve this behaviour using framesets, with top fixed frameset set without scrolling, but I’m not sure if is suitable for your case

You could try to “mimic” this using a form header: you can define part of the form as a header similar to what you do in Excel. It is in the properties of the Form and depends on the position of your cursor.

Unfortunately you cannot define the form header somewhere in the middle of a table. So you would need to do the following:

  • Change the table to be a “programmatic” table (table properties, second to last tab) and give it a name (last tab, e.g. “MainTable”). Give every tab a value, then hide the labels, you don’t need them
  • Create another table within the header with one row and one column for every tab of your table. Create one button or a hotspot text in every cell with the following formula:
    @SetField( "$MainTable"; "NameOfFirstTab" ); @Command([RefreshHideFormulas])

Now you have a “header” that stays and a table that scrolls… To make it visually more attractive you can replace the button with a computed image like DDM does in page “pgEventsHeaderTabsRange” with formula like
@If( $MainTable = "NameOfFirstTab" ; "ImageActiveTab"; "ImageInactiveTab" )
or you put that formula in the Background-Image formula for the cell.

Here is, how it looks like without any design:

Thanks for the effort Javier, I’ve decided to go with programmable table triggered from the header - suggested by Tode.

Thanks Tode, I totally overlooked triggering the programmable table from the header. It works great!
