How to prevent refreshing a view access list?

Hello,

I am having a brain freeze. How do I Refresh Design for a database without changing a view access list in the process?

I have an NTF of my own (not a delivered template) that I use to refresh the design of the production db. I want to restrict access to the prod views, but when I Refresh Design, the view access list changes with it. Obviously I cannot check the “Prohibit design refresh or replace to modify” setting. Do I have to put everyone on the template ACL so it matches??

I have an embedded outline page for navigation, and I have hidden the appropriate outline entries as needed, but I also want to set view access lists so they can’t go up and click on View - Go To… to get to other views.

TIA for any help,

Mark

Mark,

Yes, when you refresh the design it’ll refresh these lists in the regular NSF.

I use [roles] so that I can assign the appropriate role in my template and not worry about putting all the other ACL entries in.

I see, yes, I use roles all the time, too… In this instance I had discovered a group that someone else had made of the exact people I needed to target, so I was trying to just use the group. But roles are still the perfect solution.

Thanks much for the response.
