How to move old archive message to a folder in order to separate it with new archive message?

My current archive inbox had 1100 messages, now I want to achieve some new messages but don’t want to combine with the 1100 old messages. When I drag the old message into a Folder and archive new messages, the inbox still showing all of the messages. I try to delete the messages in the inbox, it also delete the message that I put in Folder.

Any suggestion to workaround that?

You say you “dragged” the messages into a folder, but if they are still in your inbox, I suspect what you actually did was copy and paste the messages, which would result in you having multiple copies of them.

If you want to have separate archives, change your archiving settings to store messages in a different archive database than the one you were using. Read in the user help about archiving, it describes how to do all this.
