Super-admin asked me to implement a feature as follow:
Whenver a group Admin deletes a group (Sofware Team), that Software Team (group) must be stored in hidden somewhere, so it’s not visible to the admin (or group admins, users, members, or whoever deleted it), however, it must be visible to the Super-admin. Super admin has access to that location. That group will be deleted permanently within 15 days (or whenever it is).
Admin is the Group Admins in the Address book.
Do i have to set something in the “Delete” button to trigger this?
Any thoughts on this? How do you approach doing this? Please help me out!

Subject: 2 choices that I can think of:
You could use the PostDocumentDelete function to copy the Document to a special database for the SuperAdmin to review. He could cut and paste to get it back to the NAB. Or perhaps you could enable Soft Deletions for the Db, Add a Trash Folder to the Db and hide it from anyone but SuperAdmin

I have to create a special db. Can you clarify “special db”? What do I need to do in here?

SuperAdmin could cut and paste to get back to NAB. I think this is Ok, I’ve got to train SuperAdmin once it’s done.

How can I enable Soft Deletion for DB. I’ve never heard this before. How am I about to do this?

Add a Trash Folder to Db and hide it from anyone but SuperAdmin. I’ll look into this.
I am more interested in the second option. Do I have to go into the application itself? I am not a SuperAdmin, I am just a Designer, I don’t have access to the server, etc.
Can you give me more guidance on this? How to do this?

Subject: In terms of “Soft Deletions”, the perfect example is in your Mail File.
If you look at the database properties you will see on the last Tab an option for “Allow soft deletions”. This is probably checked in your mail file. When you delete a document in the Mail file, it is moved to the “Trash” folder. Then after the Soft delete expire time they will be permenantly deleted. You will have to get into the design of the Db for this to add a “Trash” folder. The SuperAdmin would have the ability to “Restore” from this folder.

Thanks for your help. I got this already. However, another small issue came up is.
When I press the “Del” button, I olny see the “x” of marked for deletion next to that row. After that I have to press F9 (or click on Refresh button") then the group will disapear from the view and will show up in the soft-deleted view (I created). This does annoy the users. They’ve got to do an additional step, that’s what I don’t want them to do.
Below is the link for the mail template, but I don’t think that it does apply to groups. Morevover, it also requires special access to the library, that’s what I don’t have.

Subject: Another way of Delete button
Hi Bill and all,
I am thinking about to put the flag in the back of Delete button to trigger it. It’s like on (visible) and off (non-visible) status. In the view, if a group is deleted, then its status is 1, and cannot view (see) it however, the admin (or higher level) can see it. If its status is 0, then users (everyone) can see it. It’s like hidden view… In fact, everything is there if you’re the super admin and you can see it, nothing is deleted. However, it depends on the accessible level to the view or not. Another way you can think of is like the matrix (or excel) spread sheet.
Please give me advices if you can.
