I’m trying to get events out of Domino (and Notes, if possible). I can’t find a way to do this, via syslog of SNMP. The docs mention to do it through the “event handler” via the Basics/Event panel. My domino console (full install, eval) doesn’t have this option available. Is there a snap-in package that needs to be loaded for the ability to do this? The document I’m referring states this (shown below). Any info would be appreciated.
(taken from docs)
– On the Basics panel:
Check “Notify of the event on any server”.
Check the trigger, “Any event that matches a criteria”.
– On the Event panel:
Check “Events can be any type”.
Select “All severity”.
Check “Events can have any message”.
Subject: Do you have a Notes client/Administration client installed?
The references are being made to “event handler” documents being created in events4.nsf. To access/create these documents, you’ll need to have a Notes client and/or Administration client installed. Then you can open events4, and proceed. There is a bug (which I’ll write up if one doesn’t already exist) which doesn’t let you leave the “events can be any severity” radio button selected, but you can choose all severities after selecting “events must be one of these severities:”
Hope that helps.

Subject: adminstration client
This appears to be what is missing. I did a complete install of Domino on the server, and it isn’t there. And I did a complete install of Notes on the client, and it isn’t there.
Which package is the Administration client supposed to come in, and how do I install it?
Thanks.
Subject: SNMP agent
Hi
You need to configure Event Generators to monitor events, Event handlers to process those alarms and set up SNMP-agent to send those alarms to your Monitoring system.
