Something went wrong with Readers field in a couple of documents. Is there a way to get those documents back?
Might be impossible, since they are not appearing in the view.

If you don’t have checked “Enforce a consistent Access Control List…” in the ACL dialog box you can open the database locally and the documents will appear. Another way is to ask an administrator who is able to use “Full Access Administration” to switch to that mode and open the database.

It’s always worth having TWO readers fields on a form/document, one called something like AdminReaders, computed, value of [Admin]That way you can always add someone to a role of Admin to be able to see any document

PLEASE – make the “CYA” field type Authors, not Readers. An Authors field cannot remove access to a document from anyone, so you can keep an active admin readers value in the field at all times, regardless of the content of any Readers field on the document without causing harm. Authors fields grant read-and-write access to a document, so in the event that a Readers field is populated on the document, your admin readers role will have read access to the document.

Hi StanBit unsure myself of any advantage of making the CYA field Authors not Readers
Everything you have said about it equally applies to a Readers field - remember I said t make it Computed, value [Admin], so whenever the doc is saved in UI it updates, and I’ve sort of assumed that no one will write code to overwrite a field called AdminReaders

I made a local copy last night but those vanished documents were not seen. I am manager on production database.

did you try copying file level not from notes create new copy. open the new file locally . you should be able to see the missing documents. try it out.
