If you are still looking to use the Lotus Notes client for email when your organization has switched to Office365, try the following configuration settings to connect. The only exception is the SMTP outbound connection where a work around can be used.
Steps:
-
Open the OWA (Outlook Web Access) client
-
Click gear icon followed by ‘Options’
-
On lower body page, click ‘Settings for POP or IMAP access’ link
-
When prompted, write down setting values
- If displayed, use server name, e.g. pod#####.outlook.com instead of generic name of outlook.office365.com (#=number)
-
From Notes client, open personal address book
-
Navigate/open to ‘Locations’ view
-
Click ‘New Location’ action button
-
Complete per your environment with exception to unique profile name and MAIL tab, for server name enter [ pod#####.outlook.com ]
-
Save and Close.
-
Select File-Preferences
-
Select ‘Accounts’ option then click ‘New Account’ button
-
Enter values as following example,
Account Name: [ (your choice) ]
Description: [ (your choice) ]
Type: [ IMAP Offline (SSL Enabled) ]
Server: [ pod#####.outlook.com ]
Name: [ (userID; e.g. jsmith@acme.com) ]
Password: [ (current password) ]
- Advanced Properties
Port number: [ 993 ]
Start rep…: [ No ]
Delete IMAP…: [ No ]
Max message…: [ 0 ]
Accept SSL…: [ No ]
Accept exp…: [ No ]
Send SSL cert: [ No ]
Verify account:[ Disabled ]
SSL protocal…:[ Negociated ]
- Notes Locations
- assign new Location Profile per step 8 to this account
- Done and test.
If you don’t know what your assigned pod##### is, ask your Microsoft representative. As for SMTP, the work around is to configure a direct connection to an existing organizational SMTP server name, such as smtp.acme.com .
Best of Luck…
