Consider I have a text field to show availability of an items, where GREEN will be available, and RED will be Not Avail. The field type is compute.

Hi Jil,
There is no way to compute the background colour of a text field.
I can think of two possible workarounds which you could use to achieve this result though…
Put the field inside a a table (with zero borders) and compute the background colour of the table depending upon the value of the field.
Use 2 Native OS type fields, setting the background colour of one to red and the other to green and use hide formulas to only show the relevant one. You can

You cannot do this directly. Instead create a navigator icon or picture or any thing that would represent the color and hide it based on the status.

Computed Text? Not possible. But you can achieve what you are looking for by using a “computed field” of “Native OS Style”. You can set the background color as well as text color with the same formula you have for your computed text.
