How do you change the Notes Domain Name? I have one Notes Server with 10 users and I want to change the Notes Domain Name and the internet Domain Name. I am especially interested in the part where I need to create a new Cert.id

Changing the internet domain is pretty easy, you just need to rename all the references to the old domain.
Changing the Notes domain is not so easy as it is referenced in notes.ini files, locations documents, person docs etc. Most documents in the DD reference the domain name. If they are all changed, it will work though.
No new certifier is need to change Notes or internet domain.

Ben,
I’m going to give it a try as we speak I will let you know how it goes… ![]()

I see you want to change the organisation, not the domain.
Not easy at all and not a process I’d like to write up with any haste. Easier to start from scratch with such a small set-up.

Exactly what I am doing here. I have a test R6 server that I have setup. It’s Notes Domain Name, which I thought was the same as the Organization Name, I want to change from “Original” to “NewDeal”. My belief is that I need to create another cert.id for a new Organization and then recertify or cross certify the current server ID and then rename every instance in the notes.ini, the Server document and the Domain document to the new Notes Domain name (newdeal). I currently have a test enviroment exactly as stated above… Just not sure about the certifiying ID steps…
Thanks again for you input on this issue,
Chris

Do you want to change the Notes Domain Name, or Organization/Certifier name (since you mentioned cert.id)? These are two different things.

I thought the Notes Domain name consists of the Organization name? My O=Original i.e. Chris Carswell/Original. I now want to change the name to Chris Carswell/Newdeal i.e. O=Newdeal. Hope that explains what I am doing…
