Dear all,
recently, i am having a problem while changing a name of user in Lotus Notes. I have done the change of Address Book, but i couldn’t find a way to change the mail file. Would anyone like to help for my situation.

You have not specified how you are trying to change the name. If you are trying to do it from the OS, you aren’t usually able to do it because the server process itself has hold of the file. You can either shut the server down temporarily, and rename your file, or clear the db cache (which releases the database for a while) and rename it.

Why would you change the file name? Simply change the title and be done with it. Simple, yes?
Or am I missing something?

I agree with Gregg. The mail “filename” is just that…a ‘filename’. I have users who have changed from single to married and their name is updated in the Domino Directory and in the Calendar Profile of their database, but the filename stays the same - Sally Jones becomes Sally Smith, but her mail filename is still mail\sallyjones.nsf
I guess if you really felt the need to change the name, you should shut down the server, rename the filename at the OS level, restart the server, and update the person doc in the Domino Directory to point to the new filename, and replicate the DD to all servers.

no need to shut down the server for everyone - open Explorer in one window, and Administrator in another. At the console, type
dbcache flush mail\yourfilename.nsf
Immediately toggle to Explorer and change the file name at the OS level.
However, I agree with most - no need to change the filename in most cases.

If I change the mail file in OS level, would it have any problems on replication between Servers?

Changing the file name does not change the replica ID.
