We have created a customized directory of employees (extra fields, photo, etc) for our company. We want our users to use exclusively this directory and their personal names as address book. We were able to give access to our customized directory through directory assistance, but we want to avoid access to the main NAMES directory. Is there some way to avoid searches in the main NAMES directory when you click on TO on a new memo or when the Notes client makes type ahead look-ups?

I dont know of any way how to get rid of the main domino directory from the list of addressbooks in the MailAddress-dialog. (and I dont think that it is possible)
However you could modifie the views in this directory in such a way, that they will be empty.
(just change the selection formula)
The views which are displayed are “($PeopleGroupsFlat)”,“($PeopleGroupsHier)”,“($PeopleGroupsCorpHier)” and “($PeopleGroupsByLang)”.
It might work and I have changed this views quite often in the past and never got any problems with it. ( but i never “removed” all documents :-)))

PS: Remember that the same dialog is used for the ACL which might make you administration more difficult.
