I want to enable registration on the web as it is done on this site which should give me option for the user to choose his user name and password.There should also be an option Forgot password.Can anyone help.

Take a look at domreg.nsf/ntf which is standrad with Domino app. It does a lot of the work for adding web registrations into names.nsf.
You may have to do a little modification/addition to get password reminders or resets, etc.
