How to access shared network drive resource from web application

I want to access some MS Word document files stored on one of network drive. I mapped that drive in Domino server. I created a URL->Directory mapping in Domino server web configuration. When I try to access any file in that drive using my web application, I get IE 404 error. Does anyone know how to do that or is it allowed. I can successfully map local domino server drive (D:) but not a shared network drive.

Create a folder link in the Domino Server and assign it to your network drive.

Search for the word “dir” in the Administrator Help if you want more info about how create it.
