How many Administrators to administrate a domain?

Hi !

I’d like to know how many administrators there are usually to administrate a Domino Domain ?

Where can I find this information ?

Can some of you give me examples of their own configuration ?

Our own domain has :

12 companies under the same holding (company1/holding/CH, company2/holding/CH…)

27 servers (2 for SMTP, 7 for HTTP, 10 for Mail, 2 for Groupware… 6 for Test and Dev)

800 notes users

15 web sites

A special HHTP Server with more than 35’000 customer DB.

We have no 1st level support, the Notes administrator does the 1st level support as well.

Version 6.5.x for servers, to migrate in 7.X in May and June, some servers are already in 7.X

Version 6.5.x for clients, to migrate in 7.X in July and August

Thanks in advance

I dont think there is going to be a exact rule of thumb that will give you the perfect number.

You have missed out information from you life. These should be:

Shift Paterns = if you are a global company and a response time of 18 hours for a change request is not acceptable you will need to look at more administraters

Time and Management report information = The most important thing to look into. One over worked techie is just as likely to leave as one that is sat doing nothing. The right ballance of project, admin, time should equate to the number of administrators required.

Importance of Domino to your company

Domino Knowledge requirements, ie Sametime, QuickR, Connections, development etc (not everyone knows all these products well)

The most important thing to think about is MORE than one is a must if your company depends on Domino for its business. If not you will need to pay for a service provider to cover holidays and sickness etc.

I hope this has made you think of a few things and helped point you in the right direction.
