Like LotusScript before it, the XPages automagic formatter is a PITA. Also like LotusScript before it, there appears to be no way to turn the PITA off. I do 99.9834% of my work in Source tab, because the Design tab is nothing but a pain. I wish I could remove it entirely, it’s so useless, but alas one may not drop controls on the Source tab, so if I’m using a control I’ve never used before, so I have no clue what its syntax is, I have absolutely no choice but to go to the Design tab and drop it in.- Then DDE automagically reformats my entire XPage “for” me, as if IT knows how I want my code to look. I’m sick of it’s pathetic idea of formatting and want to never see it again. But I can’t, or if I can it’s not evident by loading Preferences and searching for “format”. There are scads of settings about formatting, but not a one of them allows formatting to be completely and totally disabled. They only allow adjustment of the formatting that apparently must be applied.

So how does one turn this nightmare off?
