How does notes.ini NewMailSeqNum go bad?

I know this probably happens to more of our users who don’t complain about it, but our Executive VP’s Admin Assistant has chronic problems with new mail checking about every 2 months.

She has the capability to switch location documents in her client and effectively become the Executive VP. Can switching between “profiles” screw up NewMailSeqNum?

I’ve told my boss that this is a situation where there are only workarounds, not permanent fixes. I would like to get my head around what causes it to fail. Any ideas?

Thanks.

If by effectively becoming the Executive VP, you mean that the mail file and id for the VP become her defaults in that location, then that could very well cause problems with the sequence number update since there’s only one notes.ini and the sequence number is database-specific.
