We recently added a second domino server to our network. It is for handling the BlackBerry traffic. We don’t want the mail coming in from the BlackBerrys to go out the new BB server but to get sent to our regular domino mail server.
In the BB server document I turned off ‘routing tasks’. Didn’t help. I changed the BB connection document to our mail server to be one of STMP. That didn’t help.
I created a special Global Domain document for the BB server. Didn’t see anywhere to tell the BB server to just send mail to our mail server.
What’s the trick here?
The problem I am having is that mail that go out properly from our mail server has problems with certain mail servers when sent from the BB server. Can’t get mail to sbcglobal.net or aol.net amoung others. Most goes thru OK tho from the BB server.
Maybe fixing that problem would be the best solution.
Subject: RE: How do you have mail from one server sent to another server?
If the problem seems to be specific to particular domains you may want to find out whether or not this is specific to Blackberries or if it is also affecting mail sent from Notes clients. If it’s not BES specific you may want to contact you DNS provider and make sure that you have all of the necessary records (PTR, MX, A, etc.). You’ll sometimes see delivery issues to certain domains if those domains perform reverse look ups and you have missing records on your DNS server, particularly if your PTR record is missing.
There may actually be an issue between your BES and mail server, but this is something that you may want to keep in mind.
