Hi. I just upgraded to Notes 9 this morning. I see there’s now a user-avatar when in Sametime, both for me and anyone I’m chatting with. I can’t figure out how to add a custom pic. I thought maybe I had to add a vCard to my signature but that didn’t work and I really only want the avatar used in Sametime. Can someone help me add a pic for mine. I’m assuming I’ll only see an avatar for others if they set one up (ie: I can’t pic avatars for each of my contacts). Thanks.
Subject: Setup is done by administrator, but …
Carl can correct me if I am wrong on this.
In essence picture need to be added from an “external” repository. However that does not mean that you as a user cannot update your own picture in that repository. It does require a lot of work for Admin to set it up but what you want is still possible.
Having said that I guess that does not really help you much since I am guessing that you are not the Sametime Admin ?

You’re correct. I’m not a Sametime admin. Just a Notes/Sametime user.
When I startup Notes 9 it authenticates against our LDAP server. I don’t know if Sametime does the same thing. While I don’t have access to LDAP to establish an avatar you’re saying that if I did do that, that Sametime should pick up the avatar?

Subject: Only if you Sametime Admin has set it up to do so.
Subject: It gets setup by the Sametime administrator.
Typically the picture is populated from the LDAP directory, but there are other options for the Sametime Admin to use also.

You’d think a user would be in charge of their avatar. I’m sure Sametime Admin’s have better things to do.
