I have two different notes IDs since I’m on an international assignment. I am getting mail on both of them - and it’s frustrating to switch between the two constantly.
Ideally - I’d like to be able to access both my mail files from the same login. I believe there is a way to set up the trust relationships so that even secure documents in the second one can be viewed from the first one. I am not able to do that. Any suggestions on how to achieve that would be wonderful.
There was another alternate suggestion of setting up two different locations, and associating a different ID to each location. Can anyone elaborate on how that would work?

There are no “trust relationships” in Notes/Domino. There are, however, many different security features which might be necessary to use in order to get near where you’re going, including cross-certification and ACLs.

If by this you mean (as it sounds) that you believe that mail encrypted for user1 can be read with user2’s ID file if only user1 says so, then you are sorely mistaken. There is absolutely no way on this or any other planet that you can decrypt something using one RSA private key that was meant to be decrypted only with a different RSA private key.

Open your mail.
Click Actions ‘Tools’ → ‘Preferences…’
Select tab ‘Access and Delegation’ and add the appropriate user names to both mail files. That way, you can open/send mail with either ID.

The only way to be able to access both mail files at once is to have the second id in the ACL of teh first one, and both servers trusting one ID.
Teh locations method is the best that i have see as you simply switch location. set up a new location in your local address book and make sure your id is in the ‘switch id to’ field in one of the section, and the mail file for the location matches the id. you will need to edit your current location to switch back to the first id. Locations are at the bottom right of your notes client, you can select them from that menu.
