We’ve been using the template which hold information on out room reservation. wanted the databAse tweeked so it accommodates more information. so now have a new template but its completely blank. how do I add the template to the existing database without wiping out the existing data? Or is there a way to replicate the data from the old database into the new template?Your assistance is highly appreciated
You just replace the design of the existing database (the one that contains all the documents) with the new template. Replacing the design of a database NEVER deletes any documents.
Hi KenThanks for your response. I am new at this and wanted to make sure that the changes i make doesnt affect the existing one.
Currently have the new template (NTF FILE)saved locally, do i move it to the data folder of the domino directory then point it to when replacing design
You don’t have to move the template to the server. You can replace the design of the database on the server using the template on your PC. Notes will remember where the template is, and in the future you can just refresh the design instead of going through the extra mouse clicks to go looking for the template, as you do when you replace the design.
However, if a lot of time has passed since I last updated the design of a DB, I will choose the replace option to ensure the right template is picked up. The template should be under the \Notes\Data\ path for you to be able to find it.
