I want to change the starting view of a normal mail-database from mail-view to calendar-view. I found the option in the database properties for changing this but the problem is that after refreshing the design of this mail-database the mail-view is set as starting view again. How can I set the calendar-view as starting view without having the problem with the design-update?
Thank you very much for your help,
Happy New Year to everyone

the best way could be to change your mail template design on your server.

Is there a way to use the same template for mail-databases with starting-view as mail-view and others as calendar-view and so that the mail-databases keep their set starting-view, independent of what is defined in the template? The problem is, the template is responsible for 1000 databases but only 1% of those need the starting view switched to calendar. An extra template is a solution but i wonder if there is a more elegant way
Thanks anyway

Why donât you leave the mail-template like it is.The users that want to open the calender-view first kan change it in the maildb-properties, launch tab, and switch the Name from MAILFS to CALENDARFS.
Hope this helps

I have tried to change the starting-view of one mail-database to calendar-view. Then for making sure that a design update does not affect this new starting view I have made a design-update. Unfortunately after that the starting-view of the mail-database has been switched back to the starting-view of the template. We have an automatic design update task running that updates the databases. So if a user switches to another starting-view it works fine until the automatic design update set back the starting-view to the starting-view of the template.
What I want: Is there a way that several databases which all are updating their design from the same template can have different starting-views so that they remain different after a design refresh.

Is it a solution to make a copy of the mail-template, change the open option there and use this new template for the users that want to have their calender to be opened? Of course you also have to make sure the created maildbâs use the right template.
Maybe another solution is to change the template launch option to âRestored as last viewed by userâ, but I didnât test this.

Just wondering - is there a reason that these userâs canât just click their âCalendarâ button instead of their âMailâ button?
If this isnât possible for whatever reason, maybe you could achieve what you want by changing the Mail icon in the userâs bookmarks to point to the calendar rather than mail.
Perhaps if you explain the reason for needing to do this, someone could come up with options other than changing the template.
