I am exporting data from a db that has “.” used in the field names. Lotusscript errs out when it gets to that field name. Is there a way around this in script. I don’t want to have to rename each field and update all the data in the db and was hoping that I could find a workaround.
Thanks for any help.

I have used periods in field names without trouble, but you can’t use extended notation. In other words,
doc.field.name(0)
is going to fail, but
doc.GetItemValue(“field.name”)
won’t.

actually, you can use extended notation if you escape it
doc.field~.name(0)

We have an app in which the Subcategory field was named “category.sub”. To get around the failure in script we just access the value of the field by assigning it to a text string.
Source as Notesuidocument
Dim categorysub As String
categorysub=source.fieldgettext(“category.sub”)
Not sure how well this will work in your export agent, but hope this helps anyway.

Susan,
How are you accessing the fields? Can you post the code?
