How do I compact a local archive file?

I have a user with an archive that is 1.7 G but she is only using 25% of it. If I run an archive it tells me it can be run at this time?Is this because the archive is local on the pc? How can I get it archived?

Thanks, Jeff.

If the file is local try the following:close the local lotus notes client

open the commmand prompt and go to your notes directory

use the ncompact command and specify the name of the database you wish to compact.

from the workspace or a bookmark

right click > database > properties > info tab (second tab)> compact

Neither suggestion worked. The compact via the client ends after about 20% finished. The command line options tell me the db is 1 to 1? A properties tells me that I am at 30% of 1.8 G total.

I’ve tried different switches on the fixup and compact command but nothing helps. Any ideas?

Thank you again.

How close is your user to having a full hard disk? Don’t forget to allow for swap and hibernate files.

Sorry, 10G free. I’m assuming that’s more than enough.

Whatever else anyone could suggest would be helpful.

Thanks again.

Hi,

In that case, I suggest you to try a new replica from the client.

If this will not work, try a new copy, then close notes and switch the filenames.

This should help.

I would also suggest you to put the archive on a server, rather than on the client. The server can take care of that kind of problems, and the database will not get corrupted.
