Button that creates an email - how do I get a clickableURL in there?

I hope someone will take pity on me. I’m not a programmer. I am modifying someone else’s nice button and want to make it a bit better.

What the button does is to create an email for someone to send.

What I’d like to do is to add a clickable URL into that generated email.

  1. Please let me know the answer. (My button info is summarised below)

  2. If you can point me to a reference manual / data-base for such information, I would be very grateful. I am sure I will extend my button programming once I know where to look for information. You could also point me to a “Buttons 101” if such a thing exists.

Button text follows:

@Command([MailComposeMemo]);

@Command([EditGotoField]; “EnterBlindCopyTo”);

@Command([EditInsertText]; “Fliss Markham/UK/IBM@IBMGB”);

@Command([EditGotoField]; “Subject”);

@Command([EditInsertText]; “my topic”);

@Command([EditGotoField]; “Body”);

@Command([EditInsertText]; "

all my body of text about an event.

I hope you will enrol for our event.

This link will take you straight to the registration page.

");

*** THIS is where I’d like to add a URL that the customer could click on and go straight to the invitation page ***

@Prompt([Ok];“Thank You”;“Please include a personalised greeting and signoff and send to your customer”)

Maybe I misunderstand, so apologies, if I am telling you what you already know, but you can simply include the URL in the body as text and it’ll be clickable as it arrives as email…

Is that what you are looking for?

As Pascal pointed out, put it in the body with the “EditInsertText” @command like your formula has, and as long as your URL is preceded by the “http://” Most email clients would display and make it a hotlink.

As an alternative, you could embed HTML of the format:

Your text to be linked

Although if you don’t display the url explicitly, as in the first suggested method, some wary users won’t click it, And, some mail clients are set to not display html.

Hope it helps.

Thank you both of you for your responses. I wasn’t persistent enough to try actually sending the note I had created. I am so used to sending emails where I explicitly make the URL into a hotspot.

You’re right, it works.
