Hi.I am working at small branch of company that has its main location 1800Km away. Our mail server is at Head office with 512 Mb DigiNet line connection our branch with HO. We are sending large Excel and Powerpoint documents as a attachements to other users in our branch.
To limit the load on our DigiNet line i would like to send a link to those documents only ( the documents are located on local file server).
Ho can I to do it with Notes 8.0.2 ??
Subject: File Link
This has worked for me in the past.
In a new memo, type the word or phrase you want the user to click on. Then highlight that text, and in the menu bar at the top of the new memo window, click on Create → Hotspot → Link Hotspot. In the dialoge box that appears, make sure the “Type” is URL (short for uniform resource locator), and in the “Value” field type in the location of the share where the file is located in the following way.
file://servername/sharename/filename
Belowe is an example of what this link may look like.
file://hyperactive.ad.westway.com/shared/sales.xls
NOTE: The receiving party must also have access to this server, share, and file for the link to work. Assuming them do, and they are using Windows, the above link format should work normally.
