Hi YelizFirst find out whether the remote server is accessible on the network. Use the ‘ping’ command from a command prompt from windows. Such as:
ping
This tests to see if the network card of the remote server is responding.
Next, check your ‘hosts’ and ‘lmhosts’ files on the machine trying to access the remote server. Do a search for these files, open them in Notepad and read the information in the files. Make sure you have the correct settings in these files, such as the correct IP numbers for the servers and of course correct spelling for the server names.
You could also use the Notes client and try to open a database but for the server name use the actual IP number for the remote server and hit enter … see if the databases on the remote server get listed or not. If they are, then the remote server ‘IS’ accessible but your settings are not correct - check your hosts file in windows.
Next time you post a message, it is better for you to provide some more details about your system set up and what you have already tried. Then other people can give you more accurate information.
