How can I access my attachments in a Lotus Notes database that was created when I worked for another employer who used Lotus Notes v6.5. My current employer does not use Lotus Notes but if I buy a copy of Lotus Notes v6.5 will I be able to access the database that was previously created and detach the attachments (i.e., work and excel documents)?

That depends on the security on the database. If it has “Enforce a consistent ACL” checked or it has local encryption you will not be able to open it unless you have a copy of your old ID file. You could download a demo copy of Notes and try it before you buy a license.
