HOTMAIL refuses our e-mails!

Hello

We can send message to Yahoo, GMail, and any site have e-mail service, but when we send to HOTMAIL get the following message’s subject:

“DELIVERY FAILURE: Error transferring to mxN.HOTMAIL.COM; Remote system no longer responding”

Note: N means 1, 2, 3, or 4

And it contains:

" Reporting-MTA: dns;mail.xxxxxxx.GOV.SA

Final-Recipient: rfc822;xxxxxxxx@hotmail.com

Action: failed

Status: 5.0.0

Remote-MTA: smtp;mx3.HOTMAIL.COM

Diagnostic-Code: X-Notes; Error transferring to mx3.HOTMAIL.COM; Remote

system no longer responding "

When I sent message to Hotmail Support, they reply to me "your IP of mail.xxxxxxx.gov.sa doesn’t have Reverse-DNS, and you have to tell your ISP to make Reverse-DNS for your IP.

I respond from my ISP to make Reverse-DNS, and they did that. But the problem still!!!

How can I solve this problem?

Best Regards

You mentioned that you told your ISP to turn on Reverser DNS, but did YOU turn it on, on the Domino server? It’s in one of the server documents, either the Configuration or server doc. I think Configuration document. Find it in there and see if it’s Enabled.

The reverse DNS option on the Domino Server won’t help this problem and I would think very carefully before turning it on.

As HotMail suggested it’s the reverse DNS of mail.xxxxxxx.GOV.SA that you need to ensure is working. It may take 24 hours or so to replicate around the DNS servers on the internet.

Yes, turning on the reverse DNS lookup option(s) on your Domino server will only activate the exact same problem in reverse: now you will be enforcing reverse DNS lookups on all connecting hosts sending mail to you. This is often found to be a problem in the real world, as many legitimate businesses with which you may wish to correspond may lack the knowledge and/or technical/financial resources to do this themselves or pay their DNS providers to do this for them. (And if you have ANY intermediate SMTP relay server or service in between the internet and your Domino server, you will promptly reject ALL inbound mail.)

And in addition to the standard 24-to-48-hour worldwide delay for general DNS propagation, Yahoo’s servers may well choose to ignore the TTLs set on the authoritative DNS servers’ records, and cache previous query results for a longer period of time to conserve network resources.

Are you incapable of looking in the help yourself?
