Home/Mail Server field and NotesSession.AddressBooks

We have a client that uses Domino applications and Notes clients but not for email (they use outlook). As a result they have not cared whether the “Home/Mail Server” field in the client’s locations documents are filled in correctly. Also, the public NAB’s people documents do not contain “Mail Server” information.

I have encountered that the NotesSession.AddressBooks property does not function properly if the Notes client cannot access it’s Home/Mail Server properly. This is true if it is blank.

They are in the process of upgrading their servers to Domino 7 and as they are new servers, the names are changing. This will result in all the clients still having the old servers in as the Home/Mail.

Is there anyway to change this field value in the users location documents when you are not able to use the “Move to Another Server” tool? I can think of ways where the user has to press a button to run a script to make the change, but it would be more ideal if Domino pushed the change to the Lotus Notes clients.

Any ideas?

Also, as an aside, what other parts of the Lotus Notes client would be affected by not having the correct Home/Mail server value in the field. The NotesSession.AddressBooks is the only one I have encountered.

One glaringly obvious other issue with the wrong server name in here, is that address book pickers do not find the public name and address books.
