Hi to Lo based on View Totals

Have a need for a High to Low view based on totals derived within the view…

I have a workaround of selecting just the totaled categories and copying as a table to a wk3 file then importing it back in and displaying descending by count in another form/view…

(Or going to Access to do other reports…)

BUT

Is there a way to sort based on the derived totals within the view?

or, failing that, a quick way to select just the categorized totals and not the detail so I can export…

Thanks in advance !

John

As you mentioned, you are trying to develop a report. A view is intended to provide a different service from the one you require.

Your best bet is to use COM to export the detail rows in the view to Excel and then create your report using Excel (try Pivot table methods). You can then either open the Excel file or upload the completed report to a new Notes document and display the new doc in a report view.

It is even possible to do both.

Thanks for the response… What is COM ? I can’t locate it in help…

is it short for command in script ?

Also, as with my export and reimport method,

it still sounds like manual intervention…

and with changing real time data, I would rather not have to go to an external platform to develop a manual view…

Maybe Notes is not the correct platform for our users
