Here is a thought

Why didn’t Lotus/IBM bring in the Lotus Organizer into Lotus Notes. The Calendar is better, the whole setup is better. I would be curious of you out there agree or disagrees.

I like Organizer too, for what it is.Notes is a very different thing. Its focus is on shared information, to get away from the old ideas that every person must keep their own information and that the only way to exchange information is by e-mail.

When you write “bring in”, you make it sound simple. The concepts behind the two products are completely different. I imagine the code is completely different too. It would require a complete redesign and rewrite.

If you only mean that the user interface is nicer, then you have a point. Notes’ user interface capabilities have improved somewhat, but are still not good. We have not seen radical changes in the user interface design of the standard templates. I suppose this is partly because any change unsettles existing users, but in Notes there has never been a focus on good user interfaces.

Subject: Great idea, which is why most of the Organizer developers went to Iris.

How it turned out though is still nto Organizer.
