I’m trying to create appointments on a non-Notes based workflow application. In that application I’m able to craft my own mime-encoded email message that includes an iCalendar meeting invitation. I have successfully sent the email to a Notes mailbox and notes is successfully recognizing it as a meeting invitation and presenting it in my inbox with Form = “Notice”. I am able to then add the meeting to my calendar by clicking on the “Add to Calendar” button. And, voila! I have scheduled a meeting on my Notes calendar from another platform.
Perfect! Well – not really. It seems that there is this tiny bug in Notes that causes replication save conflicts in the recipient’s mailbox when you accept an externally originated iCalendar invitation (http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=0&q1=%2Bicalendar&uid=swg21148398&loc=en_US&cs=utf-8&cc=us&lang=all). So when Lotus says they support the iCalendar protocol their really only talking about outbound meetings.
This is my last ditch effort to get around a problem that will probably kill my project.

Has anybody had any success accepting outside Meeting invitations without the replication errors?
-
Does anybody have enough insight into the Notes Calendaring & Scheduling architecture to maybe help me figure out a way around this problem?
I’ve nearly lost hope. Please help.
Thank you in advance
