Help with configuring web site on domino

Hi all…I have set up a web site on a domino server. The site is open to the general public for them to come in and browse info. I also have a database that certain authorised users can go to which is available via a link off the main page of the database.

The users have to authenticate to be allowed to get to that database.

My question is, how do I set up the host headers so that when an authorised user clicks on that link they would be presented with a custom login page that takes them into the database…

e.g

http://www.mysite.com points to the general site…

I then want the authorised users to click on link and they should be presented with

https://www.mysite.com/login.nsf and challenged to login.

Can anyone help with this?

I think you need to provide us with a little more detail. When you say you set up a site on a domino server … what exactly do you mean?

Do you mean you put some static html in the html directory? Or do you have a database that contains the html/public pages …

You shouldn’t have to worry about host headers to control access. If a user clicks on the link to the database and is not in the correct access control lists (ACL) then they will automatically be prompted to login. There’s nothing you need to do to make that happen except set up the ACL on the database…

Ok…the general part of the site is static HTML and stored in the html directory, not in a database. The domino database has a custom login form seperate and distinct from the regular domino login that gets presented to users. That login form should only be used for this individual database.

hope that helps…

If you main concern is to customize the login depending on what the database is I’ve done it before using JavaScript and DHTML to show users the “look” that I want based on the location.href in a customized login form in domcfg.nsf.

By default the login form looks one way for that specific domain. If a user is presented with the login page by domino I check the location.href and then “replace” the default look with a new look if it is a specific db. I don’t know if that is a solution you are interested in or not…

No its not…

My main concern is sending them from the static html database over to the domino database by using something like a URL substitution.
