I am facing a problem with identifying a database link.
Is there anyway to identify whether the given database is a database link?
Is there any Lotus API to get this information?
I tried with summary.exe(from Lotus API samples). When a folder is passed to it, it prints the summary information for all the databases under that folder. In this summary information, with the fields “$LinkInfo”, “$PhysicalPath”, “$StoragePath” we can findout whether it is a databaselink or a normal databse.
But when the database alone is passed to summary.exe, the above information is not printed.
Using Lotus Script file handling operations read first few lines of database or link file. The file should be opened in text mode… but you may get an error that the file is already in use by DOmino server you can’t open it. In that case try to retrieve the size of that file without actually opening it. If the size is very less it will be a Link file.
Also try looking for .DIR files in the file system. If foound, read the contents of this file to get a list of databases linked.
the link file contains only a few lines of text (which should be less than a couple of KBs) and actual NSf file in any case will be higher than 250 KB. If you already have a .DIR file in your domino server you could verify the aprrox size there.
I have created a blank NSF database in ver 6.5, and the initial size was 320 KB.
