Hi, Happy New year to one and all.I have a query related to mail access. Lotus Notes client is installed on my desktop and I want to connect to my customers mail server. Server and client are on different networks and are connected to VLAN.
Is it possible to connect to the server if the client is on different network? If so, What are the prerequisites to connect to the mail server? Please help me out in this regard, I m new to administration. Thanks in advance.

To be able to connect to a server there must be a route between the client and the server. But this might not be enough. If the route travels through firewalls, which it probably will when you are connecting through different ‘networks’, then all firewalls you pass though should allow you to use port 1352 as well.
The most easy check is to use command prompt and enter the command telnet 1352 (e.g. telnet 192.168.0.11 1352 if your server has the address 192.168.0.11)
When you get an error message then you are not able to connect to the server, when you get a black screen with a flashing cursor, then you are able to get a connection.

Hi Max, Thanks a lot for your quick response. We used telnet command to test the connectivity, as u said 1352 port was disabled. Now, we are trying to access notes thru Citrix 6.3 client.
