Help! Field encryption in web application

Assistance needed PLEASE!

I’ve been developing browser-based Domino applications for 5+ years and have received my first request to encrypt specific fields in a number of forms.

Since the users are registered without a Notes ID (because all systems are browser-based so no clients are installed), is field level encryption possible?

I’ve read in the help file that encrypted fields cannot be viewed on the browser. Has anyone found a work around for this? I.e., an agent that runs in the webqueryopen event to decrypt and vice versa encrypt in the webquerysave event?

Thank in advance for any assistance provided!

Bibi,

All the testing I’ve done indicates that this is not feasible. Browsers will not be able to edit any document that is encrypted. If they create a document which is supposed to be encryptable, it will not encrypt.

All this said, you can hunt around and find articles/blogs such as this one: http://www.rhs.com/web/blog/PowerOfTheSchwartz.nsf/plinks/RSCZ-6CATX6
